Alcohol Awareness Program
(YAAP)
YAAP is an alternative sentencing program for those
charged with violating Pennsylvania's underage drinking
statutes.
The YAAP is designed primarily for first time underage offenders ages
13-17. First time underage offenders ages 18-20 may opt to participate
in the YAAP.
The YAAP runs for six consecutive Friday evenings from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm.
The cost to participate in the YAAP is one hundred dollars ($100.00),
with fifty dollars ($50.00) payable prior to session one and ten dollars
($10.00) payable each of the remaining five sessions. Non-payment will
result in unsuccessful completion of the program and referral back to
the district justice.
The goal of the YAAP is to have the participants examine the role alcohol
plays in their lives and to help them to understand that not being involved
with alcohol is a normal, positive, and desirable choice. Participants
are encouraged to make the changes necessary in their own lives to avoid
further alcohol related problems, so that they may have a better chance
to become successful and achieve their goals.
Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program for Teens (A.D.A.P.T.)
A.D.A.P.T. is
an educational program that shows how drugs and alcohol can affect
your life. It deals
with the consequences and dangers that using can cause.
The purpose of this program is to help teens make wise choices so that
they can have a healthy and drug-free life.
Student Assistance Program (SAP)
All public schools within Bedford County
have a Student Assistance Team which helps to identify students with or
at high risk for drug and alcohol related problems or mental health problems
and refers those students to the appropriate place for help. Personal
Solutions Inc. provides a liaison to the Student Assistance Program teams
within the county to provide technical assistance and help facilitate
access to appropriate treatment.
